The little things
Like telling me to go to sleep while I kept insisting I was fully awake.
Especially that two-hour Snapchat call.
Even listening while you read your psychology homework.
I came off that call feeling so much better.
A few more favorites
Working out together and pushing you to your limits.
When we both pushed her during workouts too.
Something that matters to you, and something I appreciate about you.
That back-to-back, arms-crossed photo says enough.
Even when college and work make meeting up harder, our calls still mean a lot to me.

Something I want you to know
Maybe one day something will happen between us, or we’ll slowly drift apart until we don’t really talk anymore. I hope that never happens. But if it does, there’s something I want you to know.
It was so much fun having you in my life. You’re the first girl best friend I’ve ever had, and even if we become strangers someday, that part of my life will always have you in it.
The memories stay
I’ll remember our gym sessions, and that one call that lasted until 5. I’ll remember the two-hour call where you were reading your psychology homework while I kept insisting I wasn’t sleepy. You probably didn’t think much of it, but I went to sleep that night feeling happier just because we’d talked.
I think those are the things I’d miss most. Not some big, perfect moment. Just the normal days when talking to you was part of my life.
If we ever stop making memories together, please don’t think I’ve forgotten the ones we already made. I’ll still be glad it was you.
A little advice
As you step into adulthood, remember that not every decision has to make sense to everyone else. Listen to advice, but learn to trust your own judgment too. Choose people who bring you peace, never ignore disrespect just because it comes from someone you care about, and don’t rush your life trying to keep up with others. Try to leave kindness in every story you become a part of—but never lose yourself trying to be the good person in everyone else’s version of the story. You have time to make mistakes, change your mind, and figure out who you want to become.
One last page
I stay awake a little longer than I should,
not because the night keeps me up,
but because some part of me
doesn’t want to be asleep
when I could have been there for someone.
